It’s been a busy time of year for the team at Falcon and given the current requirements for social distancing, much of our work has taken us outdoors. We are very lucky to be able to offer a variety of services including our Plymouth bird proofing. Being up so high takes us away from the general public and means that we can work safely and effectively.
Seagulls and Pigeons are Still Nesting
Unfortunately, while there may be less people about eating their fish and chips, seagulls and pigeons are still building their nests. These nuisance birds still have to find a comfortable spot to roost and to tend to their young. The trouble is they have a few favoured spots which, like many of us currently, tend to be away from the public out of reach but not out sight or sound.
Where do Nuisance Birds Nest?
The old favourites for nesting birds are window ledges, rooftops, chimney stacks and other such places but given the increased demand for solar panels, they now have somewhere else to nest. They do love those solar panels and their faeces makes the way down through the gaps into the space below. Not only that, but wherever you have birds nesting, you are going to find lots of faecal matter on the ground below.

Plymouth Bird Proofing Solutions
Netting and Spiking are two of the most popular services that we offer. As you can see from these pictures, these beautiful flat solar panels are waiting for birds to make their home. We soon put a stop to that with this bird netting. This building is actually Bar Code in Plymouth and this was quite a large job. Northing to big for the team at Falcon though and we soon had everything in place to prevent the birds making their home here.
Bird Spiking Solutions
While we used bird netting at Bar Code, for this next project, we also used spiking. The spikes make the area inhospitable and mean that birds can’t find an empty, or comfortable place to nest. They have no choice but to move on somewhere else to try and make their nests. Bird spiking is as effective as bird netting, but it really depends on the size and shape of the space as to which method of bird proofing is used.
These are just a couple of our recent Plymouth bird proofing projects, there are many more Plymouth bird proofing services available including our very popular bird hawking or bird scaring. In fact, every job is unique.
