It was a busy week for the team at Falcon Environmental Services last week as one of our jobs was to control the rodent problem on a local farm. The team and the dogs worked really hard and certainly showed they meant business with the capture of 20 rats.
Effective farming pest control
Farming pest control across Devon and Cornwall is extremely important to the local farming community as they try to keep the rats away from their chickens in particular. Unfortunately, where there are chickens there are inevitably rats so effective pest control is paramount. Needless to say, the farmer was delighted with our work and we were particularly proud of the team and the dogs.
Prevention is key
In addition to controlling the problem we work with farmers to carry out effective prevention. This includes housekeeping to minimise a potential infestation. It’s not just chickens that are at risks. Rats and mice are also notorious for chewing through electrical cables. This can cause damage to heavy machinery, not to mention the fire hazard that it presents.

In addition to rats and mice there are also other farming pests to consider. There are those that like to get into the stored products like grain. Beetles and weevils are a risk to your harvest whilst flies are a nuisance to livestock.
